So you planned the trip. Packed the outfits. Booked the tickets.
And then your period said, “Hey bestie, I’m coming too.”
Annoying? Yes. The end of the world? Absolutely not.
Here’s some tips on how to make it less stressful.
1) First things first: pack extra period products even if you “don’t think you’ll need them.”
Travel messes with your cycle. Stress, sleep, time zones, all of it. Just carry backups. Always. And please, keep period products in your carry-on. Why? Because if your luggage disappears, your period will still show up on time and then you’ll feel like boo-boo the fool and I won’t be there to comfort you
2) On travel days, dress for comfort, not vibes.
Dark bottoms. Loose clothes. Breathable fabrics.
You can serve looks later, today is about peace of mind.
3) Pack pain relief medication and cramp relief machines. If you get cramps, don’t try to be strong, just pop that pill or strap up. Enduring avoidable pain is not bravery.
Stretch a bit. Drink a lot of water. Use heat patches if you have them.
4) Using reusable pads or period panties?
They travel well, you just need a plan:
- Carry a wet bag
- Rinse with cold water when you can
- Pack enough to rotate
Simple. No drama.
5. Bathrooms might be questionable.
That’s life. So please, carry tissues, wipes, and sanitizers.
Do what you can and move on.
Most importantly: slow down if your body asks you to.
Resting on your period while travelling is not “wasting the trip.”
It’s listening to yourself.
Your period doesn’t cancel your plans.
It just means you pack a little smarter and treat yourself a little kinder. And that, honestly, is period care too.
